Mycoplasma genitalium genome

This applet displays a gene map of the complete genome of Mycoplasma genitalium. Each rectangle indicates a gene, with the color indicating the category. You can zoom with the upper scrollbar (showing number of bases per line), and scroll with the right scrollbar. You can select categories of genes to display with the checkboxes. The "Sequence" button will open up a sequence window, which may take a long time. Clicking on a gene will bring up information on the gene. Clicking on a gene button at the bottom will then download information in a separate page. With the control at the bottom, you can select how the genes are labelled: the numeric name, the gene name (if present), or the description. The "Quit" button will remove the applet.

Note: This applet may take a few minutes to load. You need a browser that supports the Java language to use this applet.

The data comes from the TIGR sequencing project. The applet uses the U.Penn bioWidgets toolkit.

The categories displayed are: Amino acid biosynthesis; Biosynthesis of cofactors, prosthetic groups, and carriers; Cell envelope; Cellular processes; Central intermediary metabolism; Energy metabolism; Fatty acid and phospholipid metabolism; Purines, pyrimidines, nucleosides, and nucleotides; Regulatory functions; Replication; Transport and binding proteins; Translation; Transcription; Other categories; Hypothetical; Unknown; RNA.
